First rain of the year
We woke up this morning because the bedroom was stuffy and it turned out the power was off so the ceiling fan wasn't running. Unusual but not that noteworthy.
But when Paul got up to open the window we saw it was wet outside. Misting. No, raining! Sort of. More a drizzle than anything.
But with the power off there was no chance for coffee so we leashed up the dogs and headed out. The air was smooth and warm with an undercurrent of cool. It felt wonderful.
We moved to Mazatlán in late September last year. Since then it has rained only four times - until today. Now things are rinsed off and once the sun comes out it should feel nice and clean.
The picture at the top was taken at Olas Altas - and the ship in the background is a Baja ferry.

Congratulations on the rain! :)
We've had so much here that I'm MORE than happy to share with you!
I'll bet it feels nice, our first rain made everything smell fresh again. Now I am done with it, ready for some sun!
I like the photo, a dark ocean can be quite lovely.
The ocean looks so different. So stormy and ponderous.
I've been following you blog with much interest. And a touch of sadness to be so far away. I am having a nice time back in my routine. I do look forward to returning. Where is my home?
Michael
Hi Nancy!
I've been following your blog for a long time ...
I guess this note is just to say thank you, your blog has help me in so many ways with our move to Mexico, it helped me to understand that it is not easy, that it takes a lot to move somewhere else, I'm mexican but I've been away from my country for a long time plus I have 2 kids! Anyways, I love reading your blog I makes me dream in the life that someday I will have! Greeting from Canada!
Yes, the first rain is momentous, leaves everything feeling fresh and cool.
Michael, you dork, your home is here! We just got back from a long walk and then beers at PV with J & C & Snickers and his master. You should have been there!
Cynthia, if you want it enough you can make it happen. Believe!
Nancy
I was thinking how ironic it is. I am sitting here in Oregon looking out at the drizzle moaning that summer should be here, and you are rejoicing about the return of the rain. I look forward to joining you in the new cycle. The next scouting trup is only a month away.
Hi Nancy & Paul - your pic reminds me of West Seattle, with the nasty clouds and waves that might be warm like in CA, but they are not!
Thanks for adding a pic that reminds me of home...hope to see you both in Mazatlan in our journey to Guaymas!
The pic looks cold-ish but really it wasn't. Strange, huh?
We really hope to see you on your way to Guaymas!
Just wanted to say I'm so glad to have stumbled across your blog! We're heading to Maz this Xmas for our annual trip, and it's so wonderful to read about the city from a different (ie: non touristy) perspective!
I've only scratched the surface reading here, but can't wait to continue reading about your adventure!
