Iluminemos Mazatlán
Mazatlán will be joining with 67 other cities around the country in a silent march this evening to show solidarity against rising crime levels.
Everyone will gather at 5 pm at the Fisherman's Monument to sing the national anthem. We will all be wearing white and carrying candles. The march will be silent, and will end at the Plazuela Republica.
It is the hope that this simultaneous march will send a message that the people of México are united in their desire for the end to violence and uncertainty.
If you're in Mazatlán or any of the other cities participating, we encourage you to participate. If your city doesn't have an organized walk, perhaps a candle in your front window at 6 pm Mexico City time would be a good alternative.

March in peace. As you know, this is a big issue with me. I honestly believe that if people show interest in standing up against the masters of crime that things can improve. Maybe I have watched too many Batman movies.
There is a march in over in PV tonight but husband is nervous about taking kids there (I am big on exposing kids to social causes.)
I really like your idea of a candle in the window. We are going to do this - we actually have a 2 candles, red and green, that we can light that will be perfect. We can do this along with Havdalah.
Steve, It should be a wonderful thing to walk silently with everyone sharing the same thoughts of peace. I'll report on it tomorrow.
American Mommy, I'd encourage you to go - it should be a quiet and peaceful expression of solidarity and peace. What better way can kids learn how to make a statement while walking together holding candles for peace?
