This I Believe

It is important to vote. If you're an American citizen living abroad, you need to take steps now to obtain an absentee ballot from your home state. (If you haven't already!) It really is easy. Just go to www.votefromabroad.org and follow the instructions.

I hope all of the American bloggers living outside the US will take the time to follow the link above to make sure their voice is heard.

Below is a short video (with Gwyneth Paltrow) encouraging voting from abroad created by Democrats Abroad.

At least, this is one thing I can do before I leave on my trek south next summer. I know we do not all agree on the outcome of elections, but participating is important. Republics do not last when the citizenry sits out its civic duties.

Steve,

I agree. The website votefromabroad is not just for Dems - anyone can go there and register to vote by mail.

Thank you Nancy. We used the site this morning and it seems to work fine. Now if the parties can present someone of equal quality.

Thanks! We will use it. We will share the process with Kids. They always go to polls with us in USA so now we can teach them Civic Responsibility from Mexico!

I'm glad to hear people are taking the time to do this. Voting will be a little more involved than for those in the States, but it is worth it.

Having only missed voting in one election in the past 40 years, I will be registering for absentee ballot when I am back in the USA next week. Just wish there were somebody that I REALLY wanted to vote for!
