Monday is a Big Day!

and the big day is.....that Paul is going to give three months notice at work!

That's a huge milestone for us - and almost perfectly coincides with the 95 days remaining on our Countdown clock! Amazing that it is already here.

We are also excited for our next trip to Mazatlan, and we are going to be looking at houses.

The work here at home is moving along very well. The painting got done, and looks wonderful. We are having new carpet put in the basement next week, and then we will be able to move our office downstairs and move most of the rest of our furniture into the current office so they can refinish the wood floors while we are away.

It's a sunny day today - we are working on moving the last of the bark. I did all the outdoor projects that had been on my list this week, so we are in good shape for putting the house on the market when we get back from Mazatlan.

Now the only question is - how hard will it be for Paul to get up and go in to work every day once he's given his notice?

Man, you guys are really counting down the mileposts now.

And yes, I think Paul is going to have some mixed feelings about going into work. People look at you differently, you're a lame duck. Things start getting handed off. He might not be included in some meetings....because he isn't going to be there. It is kind of a strange time but it will go by fast and on to a better life. A life where the only person you have to please everyday is yourself. Well and the spouse too. hahaha. And it is a good life.

I think being a lame duck and watching things get handed off to others will be very easy to take. I am ready for the next step.

Congratulations! You are almost there.

I look forward to seeing the pictures from your house-shopping trip. Having looked (going back to look again next week) in my Mexico city of choice, I know that looking at real estate is a real adventure. Hope you find the perfect place.

Hi Paul,
30 years ago this year I gave 90 days notice to my job of ten years (jeez this makes me sound ancient). The “two week” notice is the norm and was even then – but, when you have been with a company for a long time or have long term responsibilities 90 days seems more appropriate.

The funny part of my 90 days was that up until about three weeks before the end my fellow workers including the bosses did not believe I was really leaving. I found myself reminding them and reassuring them that this was going to happen – for sure.

I felt that I would have about 5 years to return to my musical career before it was gone – as it turned out I left and never really looked back. It was a good move as your is. Looking forward to you two being in Mexico. Perhaps we will meet somewhere down there even though we are on the east coast and you on the west.
